Smoother, More Natural Vocals with Clip Gain

As I’m mixing songs with for my band’s album, I’m realizing that the vocals are so dynamic that it is hard to get a compressor to react to their volume in a consistent way. I’ve tried stringing a few compressors in parallel, but even this isn’t working as I hoped.

The best solution I’ve found is to isolate louder words and phrases and adjust the gain on each. This way the compressor receives to more consistent levels.

The problem is this is way too time-consuming… Until now!

Clip Gain, made by ValiumDuPeuple, allows you to map the Clip Gain of whatever Clip you have selected to a computer keyboard or MIDI controller. Just select a Clip and raise or lower the Clip Gain with the press of a button. So simple. So fast. I can’t think of a time a $3 purchase was so valuable.
