Singing Dog in Your Music!
Vera is a very vocal Shetland Sheepdog. I captured an excited moan as I was letting her and her sister Audra outside.I placed her voice inside Ableton’s Simpler device in the Note iOS app. After a little tweaking, I brought the instrument into Ableton Live and put some finishing touches on it.

Sculpt the sound of Vera’s voice using the 12 Macro Controls or explore the 4 Macro Variation Presets I created.
You can use Vera’s voice as pads or electric keys style sounds, or perhaps create a distant howl to give you music some canine flavor!

Everyday Sounds is a collection of Ableton Live Instruments made from samples found around my house and in daily routines. Samples include my voice, piano, guitar, and dog Vera. There are tools and bells, machines and their digital chimes, a squeaky door, and summertime crickets. Each sound is transformed into musical instruments for use in your own projects.

There’s Music Everywhere, You Just Have to Listen
Everywhere we go, we are surrounded by sound. Every sound we hear has potential to become music.
Over the last 12 years, I’be been building sample-based instruments from all kinds of sounds. Sometimes I have a pretty good idea of what the result will be, but often I’m surprised at what I hear.
Many of my favorite creations come from sounds that aren’t musical at all.
For this collection of Ableton Live Instruments, I decided to sample sounds I encounter every day. Household tools, squeaky doors and chairs, electronic beeps, my dog’s voice, my voice, interference sounds, and many more make their way into the Everyday Sounds Ableton Live Pack.
This is a creative noise-making instrument made with a Dremel tool.
A squeaky chair became a surprisingly useful collection of strings and pad sounds.
My refrigerators chiming sound becomes etherial and mystical with a little touch of Reverb and Delay.
I sang a simple “oooo” sound and managed to get electric keys sounds that have organic texture and soul.
