Can you make music using only 8 tracks?
I was wondering why October isn't the 8th month of the year ("oct" usually means "8": Octave: 8 notes; Octagon: 8 sides; Octopus: 8 arms). Turns out, it was the 8th month on the earliest Roman calendars! Eventually, we added a few months and October became the 10th month.
To celebrate the original 8th month, let's try to make a song using only 8 tracks!
While this is a limitation for us, if you were in The Beatles, 8 tracks would have been cutting edge technology. So, no excuses!
Here's a few tips if you are running low on tracks:
Put additional sounds at points in your song where a track is silent (Maybe there's no background vocals in the verse - put percussion there on that track).
Try bouncing multiple tracks to a single track. (Record your drums, percussion, and bass to a single track. Now you have freed up some tracks!).
Put sounds on a pad in Ableton Live's Drum Rack. (This is great for ear candy type stuff!).

What Members Are Saying…
“I never would have gotten as far as I am without MPC and all of the lovely folks here. I look back at what I was posting just a year ago and I honestly don't know how much more progress anyone could make in that time - MPC is a HUGE part of that for me.” - Spooqs on the MPC Discord
“I joined MPC on a whim and wanting to interact with people doing daily songs during Jamuary. What I've gotten is: community, knowledge, tools, and legitimate support. It's been amazing for me and, with a semi joking tone I'll say, "it's the best fifty bucks I've ever spent". You gotta read that like I'm on 50's television... and the "joke" is, this place is invaluable to me. Priceless. It's worth every penny and more… @BrianFunk, thank you very much for everything that you do and are. I watch your interviews with people and I see the teacher you are. I see the inspiration that Bob Ross put on you. I see you truly listen to the people you talk to, and you talk to them in a true way. I see the joy you have in life. It's a bit infectious.” - SiqN on MPC Discord
The Music Production Club is my personal pride and joy. I want to give fellow producers useful and valuable tools to create music. I strive to make the Club something I would be happy to pay for myself. I stand behind my work and if you are ever dissatisfied, let me know and I will refund your money. And as a sign of good faith, you can keep your downloads.
Thanks for your support and I hope you enjoy being in the Club!
