About...
Hi, my name is Brian Funk. I'm a musician, producer, songwriter, and Ableton Certified Trainer. I've played guitar, bass, drums, synths and sang in various touring rock bands. Currently, I play guitar and sing in the 3-piece rock band Some Good Evil. I love sound design, music production, and the study of the creative process.
My Work…
I began writing my music production blog in 2011. I produce Ableton Live Tutorials and lots of Sound Packs. I began releasing Free Ableton Live Packs in 2011 and so far there are over 240. In 2013, I became an Ableton Certified Trainer and created a video course on Live Performance with Ableton Live. Since 2014, I've worked for Berklee College of Music, teaching the Advanced Music Production with Ableton Live and Ableton Live Techniques: Sampling courses. In 2015, I started the Music Production Club, a community of music producers that receive my latest work and teachings, where we hold regular live meetings. I began the Music Production Podcast in 2017, which explores the creative, philosophical, and technical side of making music through informal conversation. I 2023, I released my book 5-Minute Music Producer: 365 Music-Making Activies. All along, I’ve been releasing music, with my latest release The First Light in June 2026.
