2 Minute Ableton Live Tip #14: Sidechaining the Auto Filter
Ableton Live's Auto Filter Sidechained = Dancing Freqs!
In the next part of our discussion of sidechaining in Ableton Live, we focus on the Auto Filter. The Auto Filter is such a cool device because of how it reacts and adds movement to tracks. You can use the built-in LFO to have a rhythmic or tempo synced movement, and the envelope section causes the Auto Filter's frequency to react to the input signal or another signal by using the side chain function. Check out the video below as I demonstrate how to set it up and put it to practical use.
Ableton Live sidechaining tutorial part 2: Auto Filter. Ableton's compressor, gate, and auto filter all have side chaining capabilities. In this second part of a three part series, I will show how the sidechaining function on the Auto Filter works.
See you next week as we discuss sidechaining Ableton Live's Gate!
And let us close out with a little music :)
I've been working on incorporating visuals into my live performances. This is a test run. Music made with Ableton Live, Akai MPK Mini, APC40, Novation LaunchPad, Teenage Engineering OP-1, Korg Kaoss Pad, Keith McMillen SoftStep. Cartoons drawn with DoInk on iPad. Visuals sequenced in Resolume Avenue, controlled via midi from Ableton Live Recorded on 8.9.12 (my birthday!)
