Five of my Favorite Christmas Songs

Merry Christmas, Sing it Aloud!

What's Christmas without the music?  Here's a rundown of five of my favorite Christmas songs, in no particular order.  Enjoy!  What are your favorites? Share them in the comments.  And don't forget to grab The Jingle Bells Instruments to make your own Christmas songs!

Elvis Presley- Blue Christmas

Elvis is the king, and this song makes no secrets about it.  Christmas is a great time to spend with the ones you love, but if you can't, then at least Elvis will make you feel a little better.

Bing Crosby- White Christmas

There's a reason that this is the best selling single of all time.  If this doesn't warm your heart, check your pulse.  Remember when Bing and David Bowie got together?

John Lennon- Happy X-Mas

Incredible melody (as usual for John Lennon) and powerful message.  This song always makes me reflect on things… a perfect song.

Vince Guaraldi Trio- Christmas Time is Here

A jazzy and interestingly sad melody, I think it is perfectly married to the Peanut's gang and Charlie Brown's melancholy.  This is just one of the masterpieces from that special.

Darlene Love- Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)

Here's a song that makes feeling sad feel kind of good.  It's completely heart wrenching and simultaneously uplifting and inspiring.  The U2 version is pretty great too.

Bonus Track! Julian Casablancas- I Wish it Was Christmas Today

I just discovered this one this year.  It's a fun garage rocker, and captures the excitement of Christmas nicely.  Probably the only Christmas song with the word "ass" in it.
