MELT captures the warm, fuzzy, pitch-drifting, vibe of vintage analog synthesizers in a deep and powerful Ableton Live Instrument Rack. Features 45 Ableton Live Presets and nearly endless combinations of sounds!
I'm very pleased to announce MELT, a collection of warm, pitch-drifting, vintage analog synthesizer instruments for Ableton Live. The vision for this collection is to capture the hazy and wavy warmth and character of old vintage synthesizers.
MELT is built on two layers of sounds, combined in an Instrument Rack. Each layer has 61 sounds sampled from the Prophet 6 analog synthesizer by Sequential Circuits. Both layers can be customized independently, using its amplitude envelop, filters, dual arpeggiators, and a special "MELT Factor" Audio Effect Rack. The two layers are combined with control over the volume, pan, and octave. They then travel through a set of Parallel Filters, and two more delay-based Audio Effect Racks. In total, MELT has 72 Macro Controls and 3,721 possible sound layer combinations. The Pack comes with 35 Instrument Rack presets, 3 Audio Effect Racks, and 2 MIDI Effect Racks.
The Sound Layers
MELT is built with two Oscillators. Each Oscillator contains 61 sampled sounds from the Prophet 6. I meticulously programmed these patches to emulate vintage synth sounds. They intentionally have drifting pitches and moving filters. The Prophet 6's Slop control was used to destabilize the tuning and timing of each patch.
Each layer has its own set of powerful controls that allows you to customize each of the 61 Prophet sound sources.
The Dual Arpeggiator MIDI Effect Rack breaks notes into two Chains, allowing you to apply two simultaneous Arpeggiators to each sound layer.
Each Oscillator can be sculpted with an ADSR Amplitude Envelope, a Filter, and a Detune control to help build large, wide sounds.
MELT Factor is a special Audio Effect Rack for creating different types of pitch drifting and adding different styles of noise. It's perfect for that wavy and hazy vibe. Try using the Melt Factor Audio Effect Rack on all different types of sounds in your music!
Powerful Combined Audio Effects
Once the two Oscillator sound layers are combined, they run through two powerful Audio Effect Racks.
Parallel Filters splits the signal into two layers and allows you to apply two different filters, each with its own LFO. This is great for emulating a drifting and unstable set of filters.
Bounce and Blast contains two independent delay-based effects. They allow you to give the sound space as well as a top-end shine.
Endless Combinations and Potential
MELT comes comes with 35 presets, but the potential doesn't end there. With just a few knob turns, you can wind up with completely different and new sounds. Check out the video below to see how quickly and easily you can build complex, nostalgic sounds using MELT.
