Jamuary2020

All this month, I am taking part in the #Jamuary2020 challenge to create some music each day this month. I am live streaming each attempt on my YouTube Channel, and all of the projects, files, samples, and presets I make during the process will go to the Music Production Club.

It was during day 5 that I decided to create instruments using samples from the beeps of Costco Cash registers. I recorded the sample using my Roland R-07 field recorder. You can hear the track I made using the instruments below.

I made two instruments, a sustained version and a plucked version. The sustained version starts the track above off. The pluck version comes in at :30. Both sounds are surprisingly rich and full of character.

This instrument is designed for sustained notes.

This instrument is designed for short plucks.

If you’d like to see how I made the instruments, watch the live stream of Jamuary Day 5.
