Songs You Can Recognize in 5 Seconds or Less

The moment we hear certain songs, we recognize them immediately. Maybe it’s the melody, the beat, the sounds, or just a unique voice; there’s something about these songs that are special.

I got to talk about three such songs on the incredible Themes and Variations Podcast. Hosts Carter and Mahea invite guests to the show to talk about songs that fit a certain topic. In this episode, we each selected a song we could recognize immediately. I choose a song from the Cars, Carter chose a classic Weezer song, and Mahea chose the song that brought us Ella Fitzgerald.

The conversation was a blast and I think we all learned a little about songs we’ve known and loved. The show also explores what makes artists and songs unique. I think this is a great thing to consider for our own music production: how can I make this song stand out?

Themes and Variations Host Carter Lee on the Music Production Podcast

It’s been a lot of fun getting to know Carter of Themes and Variations. We hit it off immediately as kindred musical spirits. We flipped the script around and I had Carter as a guest on the Music Production Podcast. We spoke a lot about live performance, collaboration, and our love of our Shetland Sheepdogs. Check it out!
