Improved Follow Actions in Ableton Live 11

Ableton has announced Live 11, which is a major upgrade with some long requested features. Some of my favorite features allow us to have more control over our Live Sets and to incorporate randomization and probability in our music.

I’m pretty excited about the updates to Follow Actions.

Follow Actions are used in Session View to tell a Clip to perform some action (play again, play next clip, etc.) after a specified amount of time has passed.

Some Follow Action improvements:

  • Follow Actions for Scenes

  • Link Follow Actions to Clip Length

  • Global Follow Action Enable/Disable (huge time saver!)

  • Jump to specific Scene

  • Loop unwarped Clips

Check out the videos below to see these new features in action. And visit Ableton’s site for more details on Live 11.

The Ableton Live Packs Used in the Video

I used my 80’s VHS Synths and VHS Drums Ableton Live Packs for the videos above. Get those sounds for your music!

Synths sampled to VCR Tape and built into Ableton Live Instrument Racks.
