2 Minute Ableton Tip #29: Multiple Synths on One Keyboard

Create Ableton Instruments That Contain More Than One Synth Sound!

The last few 2 Minute Ableton Tips have dealt with aspects of Live's device racks.  This week we will continue that discussion with how you can layer multiple synths on one keyboard.  Using different chains within a rack opens many options.  We can have instruments that trigger different synths depending on the velocity of the in coming notes.  We can also have certain notes trigger one synth and other notes trigger different ones.  This is great if you have a midi control with lots of keys.  You can have instruments that have some thick bass sound on the lower octaves, with a warm pad higher up the keyboard.  There's a lot of potential in this trick.  Check out the video below as I show you how to do it, and in two minutes, you'll be making your own multi-synth instruments!

All Sounds in the Video Come from the AfroDJMac MegaBrute Ableton Collection

Right now the MegaBrute Collection is on sale.  It features 50 synths created with the Arturia MiniBrute Analog Synthesizer, and an additional four extra Ableton Live sets of songs made completely with the MegaBrute Collection.  These Ableton sets will give you an idea of just some of the potential of this massive collection.  This collection will give you a taste of what the MiniBrute has to offer, as well as some sounds that are simply impossible on the original hardware.  Enjoy!
