The Meeblip Anode, an open source, digital mono synth with an analog filter, is on sale through Saturday March 14th for just $99 (down from $139.99, which is still a deal).  It's fully controllable via MIDI, designed for heavy bass sounds, and is only 4 inches by 4 inches!  I love that because desk space is limited.  I've got the older version of the Meeblip, and it is surprisingly robust.  Although it might look simple at first, there's a ton of sonic possibilities.  Might I also say, though I'm not sure why, it just seems to fit nicely in mixes.  The new version looks and sounds awesome.  At this price, I'll be placing an order.  If you're a hacker, this baby is completely open source, so you can turn it into something all your own.  Below are the details from the site:

The Meeblip is created by James Grahame (blipsonic) and Peter Kirn of Create Digital Music.  I've been an avid reader of Create Digital Music since I first discovered it.  I can't even begin to explain how much it has taught me about, well, creating digital music.  It's pretty hard for me to imagine how Peter manages to keep his finger so tightly on the pulse of pretty much any major development musicians and producers would be interested in, while at the same time creating his own work, which is equally impressive. On top of that, Peter has been super supportive of everything I've done, and undoubtedly exposed my work to thousands of like-minded people.  There's a chance you might not be here reading this if not for him!

A website like Create Digital Music is a perfect example of the richness of niche information the age of the internet offers us.  It so important we have sources of unbiased, honest information, unbeholden to the desires and agendas of the dollar and large corporations.  So when an opportunity like this comes along to support such an integral part of our music world, I think it's important we do so.  In a world where so much is decided by the flow of money, it is important that we vote with our dollars, and I vote for CDM!  Not only are we supporting a great cause and movement, but by doing so, we get a really cool little synth that should probably be about twice as expensive as it is.  Win Win.
