When it Comes to Inspiration, Be a Hunter Not A Lightning Rod

There's an almost mythical, mystical air surrounding inspiration. In fact, its origin suggests a supernatural or divine being breathing truth and wisdom into a person. In this way, inspiration is something that comes over us and is beyond our control. But if we wait to be inspired before we work, we may never get anything done. Imagine a doctor waiting until she was inspired before treating a patient. Or a construction worker waiting until the feeling was just right. It's kind of absurd, yet that is often how we view our work as artists.
