Elektron Analog Heat vs. Ableton's Operator
I've been lucky enough to get my hands on Elektron's new analog distortion, The Analog Heat. As a person that loves to add warmth and dirt to my music, I've been really excited to try the Heat out, and it has not let me down! The Heat makes anything from subtle warmth and boost to all out destruction is possible.
I wanted to get a look at what exactly happens to sounds run through the Heat, so I decided to use the most basic and pure of all sounds, the sine wave. I used Ableton's Operator FM synth to generate a chord progression of simple sine waves. By watching the frequency spectrum, we can see how the Heat adds harmonics and character to this plain sound. I'm finding the Heat to be a great sound design tool that can drastically alter synth patches without touching the synth itself.
I recommend watching the video below with speakers capable of reproducing deep low end!
